Printmaking, Clay, Wine & Horses Weekend

Carol Catalano Webb, local artist and printmaker at Two Artists in Love Studios, will lead a printmaking workshop at Rancho La Bellota November 14-17, 2019. Carol will teach us two fun creative printmaking methods: llinoleum block and foam plates will be designed and carved to produce bold, richly textured and layered prints inspired by the backdrop of Rancho La Bellota; in addition, we’ll use one design to create a ceramic tile, fire it, and apply beautiful cold finishes in watercolor and colored pencil.

We will explore shape, subject, color, and composition to create our design with sketches, photos, and other found objects as inspiration. We will then learn how to transfer the image, carve the printing plate, ink the plate, and use the presses to produce multiple images suitable for framing. Various methods for creating multicolored prints will also be introduced. Each guest will have multiple prints to take home.

Ceramic artist Christopher Webb will show us how to print our linoleum plate onto clay and fire it, resulting in an original tile for you to take home in addition to your prints.

Carol’s expertise will ensure that your printmaking experience is fun and successful. Linoleum block printing is an exciting medium to explore and foam-printing plates carve easily. Both beginners and experienced artists will enjoy Carol’s creative and innovative techniques.

See our sample itinerary page for instructor-led event details.
